This is probably the best-known trail on Madeira Island. Throughout this walk, you will have the opportunity to appreciate the contrast between light and shadow, which will emerge through the laurel and heather and which will keep you busy throughout the journey. Close to Lamaceiros, you will have the opportunity to enjoy stunning views over the village of Porto da Cruz and Penha D’Água.

  • Customers with regular sneakers and/or without the required equipment will be denied to do this hiking;
  • This hike is not recommended for people with knee/joint or ankle problems;
  • The weather in Madeira is very unpredictable, and it can rain at any time of year;
  • There may be days with some fog or low clouds, which do not allow you to see the attractions.
  • Pick-up: 8:00 Machico, 8:15 Santa Cruz, 9:30 Caniço, 9:00 Funchal.
  • Meeting point: at the hotel reception; in the city centre, alternative points at 9:15 (Teleférico, Palácio da Justiça, or Centro Comercial Plaza Madeira).
  • A tolerance of 20 minutes should be given from the stipulated pick time between hotels.
  • Pickup at Machico and Santa Cruz 10€ extra charge.
