Along the way, cross bridges, aqueducts, and hand-carved tunnels that showcase the island’s unique engineering heritage. The highlight is reaching the spectacular high waterfall at Caldeirão Verde’s natural lake, where you can take a refreshing swim or relax with a picnic amid stunning scenery.

  • This hike is not recommended for people with knee/joint or ankle problems;
  • For hotels located outside the city center of Funchal will be charged an extra fee per person;
  • The weather in Madeira is very unpredictable and it can rain at any time of year;
  • There may be days with some fog or low clouds, which do not allow you to see the attractions.
  • Pick-up: 9:45 in Machico, 9:40 in Santa Cruz, 9:30 in Caniço, 9:00 in Funchal.
  • Meeting point: at the hotel reception; in the city centre, alternative points at 9:15 (Teleférico, Palácio da Justiça, or Centro Comercial Plaza Madeira).
  • A tolerance of 20 minutes should be allowed from the stipulated pick-up time between hotels.
