Monte & Botanic Garden

On this tour you will visit the parish of Monte. The attractions in Monte are Largo da Fonte, the church of the famous Our Lady of Monte, patron of Madeira Island, the magnificent gardens of Monte and the old train station that served Monte on the route that linked downtown Funchal to the height of Terreiro do Luta, in the past century. Monte is also the starting point of the traditional wicker basket toboggan rides. The next place to visit on this tour is the Botanical Garden. This garden is made up of several botanical species and more than 2500 plants come from all continents and coexist in harmony.
