Geotour – Terceira Island

Explore the eastern coastal area of the island, starting with a climb up to Serra do Cume to marvel at the largest volcanic caldera in the Azores. Next, stop at the parish of Biscoitos to get up close to the natural pools formed by basaltic rock. Heading inland, visit the Gruta do Natal and explore 100 meters of a lava tunnel. Stroll through the fumarolic field of Furnas do Enxofre, witness the expulsion of volcanic gases from the Earth’s interior, and appreciate the existing flora and fauna. Stop at Algar do Carvão to visit the interior of an empty volcano, one of the most visited natural monuments in the Azores. Return to the hotel/accommodation.
